Project Description
“Through doing the murals in the Short North area I felt a personal conviction about what is really going to make a difference. The art in the Short North will come and go, but my commitment to my community doesn’t have to. I live in Linden and hope to continue to make a small difference and/or simply befriend and love the neighbors who are Black, Latino, Somali etc. who do not look like me. If everyone opened their circle and intentionally worked against the systematic segregation we see today, our world would change. I am a strong advocate in coming together as a community and that was why I was very supportive of doing the mural at Hubbard Grille. Moving forward I am collaborating with the Linden Area Commission and the City of Columbus to get more art in the Linden area, specifically along Cleveland Ave. I was inspired by the murals being done downtown and decided it was something I felt burdened to continue long term in my own community. We have plans to get local artists as well as children in Linden area schools to complete some public art to be displayed around the neighborhood.”
